Monterey, California – The following is the breakdown of the $100,000 3M Celebrity Challenge at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Celebrity teams play alternate-shot format for five holes, with money going to each player’s designated charity (split $20,000 per hole). Each charity receives a grant of at least $1,000 for being represented in the event.
The competition also showcased the 5th Annual Eastwood-Murray Cup, captured by Team Eastwood, which won in a playoff.
Team (Clint) Eastwood and Team (Bill) Murray halved all five holes, for a $100,000 carryover to the chip-off at the 18th green. Andy Garcia hit his shot to 3 feet, 6 inches from the hole to win the chip-off and secure the coveted Cup. The charities represented by Garcia and playing partner Clay Walker each earned $50,000. All other charities received $1,000 for their respective celebrity’s participation.
Also honored at the event were 3M Scholarship winners Sophia Buraglio of Carmel High and Grace Gonzales of Salinas High, who each received $3,500 for their college education from Paul Keel, Senior Vice President, 3M Business Development and Marketing-Sales. Each high school also received $9,000.
